Following the previous visits by Nic Dakin M.P. and Andrew Percy M.P., we are pleased to announce both M.P.'s will be re-visiting VOICE for an update on Mental Health issues, locally and nationally. Check out our What's On section for the dates and come and join us.
We have been involved in the national Campaign organised by Rethink called Fair Treatment Now which aims to make mental health services fairer and more accessible - for example making psychological therapies more readily available for people with severe mental health problems. As part of this campaign, members of VOICE met with candidates in the run up to the general election and to follow that up we invited Nik Dakin M.P. and Andrew Percy M.P. to visit the group and discuss mental health issues. We were really delighted when both of our local MPs accepted and we will be meeting with them both in the next few weeks.
Our first meeting was with Nic Dakin MP, the group found the meeting enjoyable and rewarding. It was really encouraging to find that Mr Dakin was so interested in hearing our views and listening to our experiences. We had a lively chat about mental health issues nationally and locally.
